Can you NOT?!

Here’s a few suggestions to help us all have an enjoyable rest of the school year.

I bet you’ve been in the halls at school, at lunch, or even in class when you see someone do something so foolish, that you wish you could just tell them to knock it off. I know I have.

Here’s a few suggestions to keep you from doing what we are all wishing you wouldn’t so that we can all have an enjoyable rest of the school year.

Can you not disrupt other classes when you’re in the halls during passing periods!?

When there are double periods, other classes sit through the bell, so when you are yelling to your friends while you’re walking to your classes, it is disrupting those classes in session. When you are outside classrooms, there are other students in class working hard to achieve good grades. Remind yourself that you are not the only ones who attend this school, so have some common courtesy and think about your actions before you do them.

Can you not stop in the middle of the halls to talk to your friends!?

Remember that there are only four minutes to get to class, so don’t waste your time talking to your friends when you could just shoot them a text (for them to look at after school, of course) or socialize with them at lunch or on the bus. You have to be aware of your surroundings and know that you might be the reason someone else is late to class. Sophomore Cianna Aubin says, “ Sometimes I’m almost late to class because of all the traffic in the hallways.” Same here! So keep it moving, people!

Can you not stick your gum under the desks!?

Sticky, chewed gum under the desks is a classic, but it’s SO gross. Instead, how about you throw it away in the trash or stick it back in the wrapper until you can dispose of it? No one wants to accidentally bump their hand or leg into something that has been in your germ-filled mouth. Trust me, one day, gravity will have its way and you will have already chewed gum in your lap. Please, just don’t!

Can you not leave your trash at the lunch tables after you’ve finished eating!?

As soon as you get up to leave your table in the caf, someone else might be there needing to sit down, and we can all agree that it would be gross to eat at a trash-covered table. Mr. Phenix calls for all lunches to be dismissed about 5 minutes before the bell rings, so time should not be an excuse for you to not throw your garbage away. It is so easy to pick up your tray and wrappers and bring them up to toss in one of the many trash bins nearby. No one is your maid or personal trash collector! If we all do our part, our school would be a much cleaner place.

Can you not walk around without your ID on!?

Yes, we can all admit it gets annoying having to always keep our IDs on, but in reality, it is just for our safety. IDs should be on at all times but if you forget when you are leaving your class, then just pull it out of your bag and put it on. You can also just get a temporary ID from the front desk if you forget yours at home! This keeps us safe and keeps teachers from repeatedly (and annoyingly) having to remind us to put them on.
