The Worcester Tech Eagles Junior Varsity football team is a team with passion. Kids who have never played before are learning new skills, and kids that have been playing are a new family. The team consists of talented freshmen and sophomores. Nolan Jost and Joshuan Marte are two freshmen that have a certain love for the game. They give 110% on and off the field.
Is this your first year of playing football?
Joshuan: Yes, it is my first year and it is exciting. I love the feeling that the game gives me. I just get pumped every time I step onto the field. But, it is a lot of hard work.
Nolan: Yes sir, this is my first year and I love it.
How is the football season going this year?
Joshuan: It’s been going bad. If I’m going to be honest we aren’t doing too well as I wanted it to go. I’m disappointed in my performance and I wish that we could perform better as a whole.
Do you feel as if your performance could be better?
Joshuan: Yes 100%, I feel my performance could be ten times better. I also think that as the season progresses, I think I’ll get better.
Nolan: Yes, I feel like I could do a lot better.
Are you guys maintaining your grades?
Joshuan: There are some areas where I am not doing the best, but I will continue to try my hardest to maintain good grades.
Nolan: Yes, I know that school comes before sports, and that is a main mindset.
What are your thoughts about young kids playing football?
Joshuan: Football is a dangerous sport if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Nolan: Learning how to tackle is a superior part in the game. Once you know how to do this, you are safe.
Coach LaCaire is the powerhouse behind this passionate team. He does the best he can to make his players better, and have more love for the game. JV Football is all about getting kids ready for the higher level, and giving kids that haven’t played all that much the experience they need. Coach LaCaire always has something positive to say about his team, and stays motivated the entire season.
What are your goals for the season?
Coach LaCaire: My main goal for JV in general is for the players to learn. My job is to prepare them for the next stage which is varsity. Throughout the season, I can see a major difference in each individual. They have all gotten better in one way or another.
What are your favorite parts about coaching?
Coach LaCaire: My favorite parts of coaching has to be the education part. We have as much fun as possible but it is mostly just discipline. Getting to know each player is also a fun part.
When did you start coaching?
Coach LaCaire: I coached three years ago when Jeff Lane was in, but I took two years off and now this is my second year back since then. I coached this year’s seniors when they were all freshmen.
Why did you start coaching?
Coach LaCaire: To begin with, I love football in general, and I was told that they needed help, and I knew I could help.
What is your view on your two starting freshman, Nolan Jost and Joshuan Marte?
Coach LaCaire: Nolan is a kid with a tremendous amount of heart. He is a great player and works very hard. Joshuan is a player who has improved tremendously since the beginning of the season. He has really stepped up and proven himself.
Coach LaCaire, Joshuan Marte, and Nolen Jost are all excited for the future of Eagle’s Football and aim to keep soaring both on and off the field.
